In store organised play begins its phased return with the MTG Streets of New Capenna Prerelease on Friday 22nd April and Saturday 23rd April!
Official store prereleases will be the very first place to try out the newest Magic: The Gathering set. We run casual, fun-first events, and you don’t need to have played in a prerelease before to take part. (You may want to brush up on the basic rules before the event though – please contact us if you need help with this!)
Over the prerelease weekend, Proud Lion will have two types of events. The first is a traditional prerelease format: 50 minutes of building time, then three Swiss-paired rounds of 50 minutes each. The second is an even more casual experience, as our prerelease party has no timers or rounds. This allows you to take all the time you need and play as much as you like!
The best part of this is that no matter which event you attend, everyone gets the same prizes at the end! Every player will receive two additional booster packs, one random Buy-A-Box promo card, and one event promo card at the end of the event.
New Capenna prerelease packs are each flavoured toward a particular House. To make this as fair as possible, all players will choose their House box at the beginning of the event, in the order by which they purchased their tickets.
The following safety rules will be in place. All participants are required to wear a face mask for the entire event, with no exceptions or exemptions. Please make sure to bring your own face mask! No food or open drinks are allowed in store; bottled drinks are fine. If you or a close contact test positive or have symptoms of Covid, please do not attend! If this happens after you have already purchased a ticket, please let us know and you will receive a gift voucher for the value of your ticket instead.
