Free Comic Book Day is nearly here, and there’s a great selection of superhero books coming our way! Here’s a look at some of the superhero titles we’re expecting to have on the day.

The story stars as Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman discover the dead body of one of their earliest enemies at the Hall of Justice. Their investigation takes them past the land of the living, beyond the land of the dead, and into a realm of nightmares. The only way to save the world is to call for the help of an unlikely hero, Deadman. DC’s previously announced Dawn of DC 2023 FCBD Special Edition now has the expanded title of Dawn of DC Knight Terrors FCBD Special Edition, and will set the stage for the two-month event, headlined by an all-new story from Williamson, Porter, and – in his first DC work in years – Chris Bachalo! This can’t-miss prelude issue, also including behind-the-scenes looks at the chilling design work for this unique story, will be available on Free Comic Book Day, May 6, with a new cover by superstar artist Jason Fabok.

We Are Legends, part of the year-long Dawn of DC storytelling initiative, is set to make a major impact on the comics industry this May, with the launch of three six-issue series: Spirit World, The Vigil, and City Boy. Each feature new characters of AAPI heritage, as leads of their own books! Earlier this year, these heroes first made their presence known across the DC Universe in the Lazarus Planet epic. In the newly announced Dawn of DC We Are Legends Special Edition promotional comic book, you can meet City Boy in a story that first appeared in Lazarus Planet: Legends Reborn, get to know Xanthe and their unique mission in a Spirit World tale from Lazarus Planet: Dark Fate, and receive intel on the mysterious organization known as the Vigil in an excerpt from Lazarus Planet: Next Evolution.

This Free Comic Book Day special edition features excerpts from two upcoming original Middle Grade graphic novels, CLARK & LEX and FANN CLUB: THE BATMAN SQUAD! Being the only kid with powers is tough…not being able to use them is even worse! When LuthorCorp holds a competition to find the best and brightest for a summer internship in Metropolis, Clark has no problem using his X-ray vision to cheat his way in if it means getting out of Smallville. Amazingly, Clark is not the only competitor with special abilities… just ask his newfound friend, Lex Luthor. This Free Comic Book Day special edition features an excerpt from DC’s upcoming original graphic novel, Girl Take Over: A Lois Lane Story.

The very first graphic novel biography of the legendary Stan Lee, co-creator of Marvel’s many superheroes including Spider-Man, Iron Man, Black Panther, Black Widow, Doctor Strange, and more, from Eisner-nominated artist Tom Scioli. I Am Stan gives Lee’s life the comic book treatment and reveals the inner workings of the legendary creator.
